Who would enjoy working at Kylesku?

A person who is curious about nature, wildlife, is excited about the outdoors, and would have some different hobbies that they could practice in their spare time.

If you like the outdoors, and you like being in this sort of location, it’s incredible because the work/life balance is quite good.

The life here is quite hard because all the shops are far away and you have to think about shopping and everything, but, at the same time, it’s so easy. It’s much easier than in the city.

What have you learnt, while working at Kylesku?

I’m moving into more hotel management area and learning about DM-ing, duty managing.

This is the first time I’ve worked in a hotel and restaurant at the same time doing lots of different things. So, it’s teaching me to change my mindset very quickly. Also, just the different foods and wines and that sort of thing. Another standout thing would probably be learning about the mussels, which are just across the loch from us, and how they farm them, but not farm them. It’s open, fresh water.

It’s really good that we are all mostly trained for everything. So it’s really easy to cover when you need a day off. It’s not like it’s just, ‘You are a KP. You are just in the laundry.’ It’s everybody can do everything.

How to interact with the guests on a completely different level that I’ve had in my previous hospitality experiences, being very formal before. But here, it’s more of a relaxed formal. So, we still have those formalities in place, but we still go at our own pace.

What our staff say aBOUT US

Tanja and Sonia are very much involved in how everything is running and they are very supportive.

They just look after us. If we’ve got a problem, we go to them. Even if it’s a personal problem, I know we can go to them and say, ‘This is what’s going'.

I feel so relaxed with them. I can be honest with them. I can tell them everything.

The team is great and you get to play in the Scottish Highlands on your days off.
